Kind Words
My dad was a very kind hearted man, truly one of the best there was. Even when he was going through his lowest moments, he still found a way to be the life of the party. I’m so grateful for all the adventures dating back as far as I can remember. You always had a story to tell or a funny memory or even a song to show me. I’m so devastated by this but the love we had for each other was unmatched. I love you so much daddy. -Your ‘Muffin’

Our heart are heavy, yet filled with gratitude for the time we shared with Dave Cato—the little man with a big heart. Dave had a smile that could light up any room and a heart that embraced everyone around him. He was more than a friend; he was family to so many. His love for music was unmatched, and whether it was a party, a family gathering, or just a casual moment, he had a way of making every occasion special. His laughter, his kindness, and his unwavering friendship will forever be missed but never forgotten. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will live on in the melodies he loved, the joy he spread, and the love he gave so freely. To Grace and the entire Cato family, please accept our heartfelt condolences. We will honor his memory by continuing to share love, music, and friendship—just as he always did. Rest easy, Dear friend. Your big heart will forever be a part of ours.

Have known David and family from elementary school days. Good Brother and one who if he caught you by phone it was “put on blast” and connecting to memory lane! Bro D made sure we celebrated our anniversary in style when HH was in Fort Worth. Rest in peace David heaven gained another MC. Prayers for the family both in Atlanta and Connecticut. Grace be uplifted during this challenging time GODS got you.

I’ve known David some 40 years he came to ATL and made it his base of operations. His classic press stove pipe blue jeans and lightly start shirt was his style. He set out to make his mark and boy did he, we had great time & wonderful memories. Going to miss you my man rest in peace!

In 1981 I met David Cato backstage at The Omni during a Rick James concert, and we have been friends ever since. Various Music Industry parties, Dekalb Avenue, Somerset Terrace, my photo studio on West Peachtree Street, Carlos McGee’s, Dugans, Club Rio, Jack The Rapper and the beat goes on from all the events and parties we hosted. One of the funniest stories was when I talked David into rolling me in a wheelchair to the Omni, backstage to a Parliament-Funkadelic concert and we both got in for free! David was a true friend and I am grateful for chance to experience Atlanta during the 80’s together with the one and only, Mr. David Cato.

I first got to know David as a neighbor and over time we became good and dear friends. Cato was many things to many people: Hospitality chairman at our Somerset cookouts, impresario and musical booking agent, computer salesman (I happily bought three from him), my personal IT advisor, and Sunday football watcher. Most importantly, he was the very proud father of Grace and a good dude. We’ll miss you Cato. Enjoy your rest.

David came from great family, and was always such a nice, funny, great kid growing up, and became such a great successful person in the entertainment industry. I’m so thankful I was able to let him know how proud I was of him and loved like the little brother he always was to me. My sincerest deepest prayers and condolences to his family.
